Cruising the World

The Journey of a life

DCIM379GOPRO
Hinnerk Weiler, Skipper, Photographer and Marine Journalist on a long term sailing adventure circumventing the world

„It sounds like a childish plan: To travel, just for the purpose of traveling. To see the worlds remotest shorelines and the lost islands and do all the adventures one has read and heard of.
Then one day there was an opportunity to change a pattern of a live and reach out to make this plan more than a dream. A decision that required to leave many things behind and start something completely new.“

In short this describes how I got to wherever you might have come across Paulinchen. I simply had the chance to build such an opportunity and as the right moment arrived, I casted off. That was in spring 2009 and since then I am living on the boat. – Cruising to remote shorelines.

Paulnchens Reiseweg zwischen von April 2009 bis April 2014. Derzeit liegt sie in Panama
Paulnchens Route between April 2009 and April 2014 from Germany to Panama.

I circled the European Baltic Sea sailing to Finland and back before I crossed the Atlantic Ocean in 2010 from England via the Azores to Nova Scotia. There I literally, for the first time in my life, stepped on the soil of the american continent and started to sail all along the eastern seaboard down to The Bahamas.

But that only to return one winter later to the north. The Great Loop took me up the Hudson River and towards the Great Lakes on a „circle route“ into the US heartland through Mid West and South from Chicago to Mobile on the Gulf of Mexico.

Since than Paulinchen still heads south and made it to Panama so far and towards the next big goal: Patagonia, the southern tip of South America. and maybe all around the world on a circumvention.

A small boat for a long journey
A small boat for a long journey

To support myself along this trip I continue to work as a marine journalist for boating magazines like I did before departure. My articles cover both: the travel in general and reflect the various and sometimes very special experiences I made cruising on a small boat over the past years. I also do speeches and presentations on boat shows and in yacht clubs.

This way I can keep it going and as long as you like to read and listen about it it will do.
